Did you know that Friday, March 8th, 2019 is a new public holiday in Berlin?
Berlin parliament has voted for a public holiday on March 8th (starting from 2019) honoring International Women’s Day
An interesting fact about Berlin is that, it is the city with lowest number of public holidays in Germany. In 2019, there are 10 holidays in Berlin including the newly announced one, compared to 13 in Bavaria.
During the vote by the House of Representatives, around 87 voted in favour of the bill and 60 voted against. Last year, various other states have also declared some new public holidays like Reformation day (by norther states) and World Children’s Day (by Thüringen).
