How to get your Schufa for free

In the previous article, we have explained what Schufa is and in this article, you can get information on how to get your free Schufa score. On the website meinschufa.de, you can see that you have to pay a fee to get your Schufa report. But in case you just need the score out of the report, there is an easy way to get your free Schufa.

Based on article 15 GDPR, anyone can request information free of charge from a company, an authority, or a natural person who stores or processes data about them. 

For instance, 

 – data stored about you and also about the origin of this data,

–  recipients (or recipient groups) to whom the data is passed on

–  the purpose of the data storage

Now let’s jump into the things to do to get your Schufa score! 

• Go to the Schufa website (www.meineschufa.de).
• Click on „Auskünfte“ (Information)
  
• Scroll all the way down and click on „Datenkopie nach Art. 15 DSGVO“ (copy of your data according to Art. 15 DSGVO)
• You will receive a selection of 2 products: „Einmalige Auskunftserteilung pro Bestellung“ (One time information per order) and „Übersicht der zu Ihrer Person bei der SCHUFA gespeicherten Daten“ (Overview of the data stored about you at SCHUFA).
• Click „Jetzt bestellen“ (order now).
• In the next window, you need to fill in your data and click “Eingaben prüfen”
  
• You now ordered your free Shcufa Scor

• Generally, you do not have to make a copy of your identity card!  Schufa has no claim that you must prove your identity by means of a copy of your identity card.  However, Schufa increasingly seems to ask questions in cases where a copy of your identity card is not attached to the application.

Within a few days, you will receive detailed information which you can present to your landlord or future creditor. If the information contains data that is demonstrably false, you can of course have it corrected by the Schufa.

Now, you know how to get your score for free. However, this is only sufficient in a few cases because it is just the score and not the full report. For example, when you apply for an apartment, you might have to give the entire report, which is possible to get only if you pay the Schufa fee, just to make sure that they do not reject your application.
